How quick is that? 

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this, I'm afraid - it all depends on how much time you can commit.  A shop that is only open three days a week.  If your other commitments prevent you from spending time working on your blog, you may find it takes you longer to make money from it.  However, if you put a bit of time and effort into it then you should be pleasantly surprised by the speed at which you grow traffic and make money.  I've been going three years and I now have a six-figure income.

So, how did I do it? 

I approached blogging like a business, set myself small targets and checked things off on my-to-do list.  If you've got five days a week to blog, then you'll get through my checklists very quickly and be up and running in no time.  But if you can only spend an hour a week, don't worry about it.  It's better than nothing and you'll get there in the end.

Who Has Made Money Blogging?

Whenever you start something new in life, you're bound to have doubts.  Starting a blog is a scary project and you may be wondering if you have what it takes to work your way through it.  Stick with it!  Otherwise you could be missing out on a chance to earn $30 million.

Seriously, that's what Tech blogger Michael Arrington earned when he sold his blog Techcrunch to AOL in 2005.  But it’s not just the Americans who are working the blogging world - the best British example is Pete Cashmore who founded Mashable.  He was 19 when he set it up from his bedroom in a small village near Aberdeen in Scotland.  Mashable now gets approximately 50 million page views a year and has 2.7 million Twitter followers.  As a result, Pete now earns upwards of 150,000 British pounds each month and has about 50 employees in offices in New York and San Francisco.  It's estimated that Brit Nick Denton, of the Gawker media empire, makes 4,000 British pound a day from adverts on Life Hacker and he owns another blog called Kataku that earns 1,000 British pounds a day. 

A husband-and-wife team, Ms Grace Cheng, 33, and Mr Pedro Pla, 32, have pulled off a rare feat. They founded a financial portal for consumers in the United States and managed it all, amazingly, from Singapore. Called dailymarkets, it is now one of the largest independent personal finance sites in the US with millions of visitors accessing it every month.  They scored an eight-figure revenue last year based on commissions collected from financial institutions which were hooked up with consumers via dailymarkets. 

Therefore, if you want this level of money then you have to be in it to win it.
